Tickets on Sale for Peking Acrobats Performance at SWOSU

Tickets are now on sale for a February 2 performance by the Peking Acrobats as part of the Panorama series at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Obituary: Wayne Melville Redman

Graveside service for Wayne Melville Redman, 92, of
Tuttle, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January
4, 2011 at the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Wayne Melville Redman was born January 30, 1918 in
Konawa, Oklahoma the son of Gains Armstead and and
Blanche Joyce (Jones) Redman. He died December 29,
2010 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Wayne and his brother Gaines hoboed on a train to Florida
to be with their father. It was quite an adventure with
only $5.00 in their pockets. He later owned the Redman
Flooring Company in Florida, making that his career. After
he and Martha Tucker were married, they moved back
to Oklahoma where he continued his career in flooring.
Martha preceded him in death in 1996.
After retiring, Wayne enjoyed playing golf with his
many friends and caring for his dogs and cats. He was also
an avid hunter. Wayne served his country in the U.S. Navy
during World War II, where he served on the USS North
Carolina battleship. He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Tuttle.
Survivors include son Tom Redman and wife, Vivi of
Boca Raton, Florida; 2 grandchildren Thomas Lee Redman
II, Christian Lee Redman; 3 great grandchildren Lily
Pilar, Thomas Lee Redman, III, and Gracie Lee and many
other family, friends, nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under
the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.

Richardson Introduces Nonpartisan County Election Bill

Rep. Phil Richardson, R Minco, will introduce a bill in the 2011 legislative session that would make races for county government positions non-partisan. Richardson, whose district includes Canadian County, said his proposed legislation would allow county office candidates to run without a party affiliation and all voters could cast ballots in the primary elections.
