Minco Cheer Squads earn Awards

The Minco High School and Junior High cheer squads attended cheerleading camp at The University of Oklahoma on July 17-19. 
Both teams had a productive three days of learning new material & stunt techniques while also bringing home numerous awards. MHS cheer was awarded Game Time Top Team while MJH brought home the trophy for Champion Chant division. 
Minco/Union City Post Offices deliver 3rd largest food donation

The Minco and Union City Post Offices completed a successful food drive campaign May 10th, delivering the third largest donation out of 136 surrounding associate offices based on pounds per delivery. 
“We appreciate the communities of Minco and Union City for donations and helping feed those who are in need,” said Denise Wheeler of this year’s food drive success.
The Minco and Union City Post Offices collected 1,628 pounds of food during the drive, all of which was donated to families in need.
The food drive is an annual program launched by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, the state’s largest private hunger relief organization.
Making smiles for 14 years

Jan’s Flowers & Gift Shoppe participated once again in the Teleflora “Make Someone Smile Week.” This program is the floral industry’s leading benevolent program. This year’s event runs from Sunday, July 20 through Saturday, July 26.
Students attend FFA Leadership camp

This week pigs wallowed, cattle grazed and the annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp took place at the Tulakogee Conference Center on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner.  
More than 1,600 FFA members from 289 Oklahoma FFA chapters attended one of four 3½-day sessions. Minco’s four select students; Jensen Overton, Jentry Overton, Tanner Bute, and Riley Dacus, embarked on their leadership journey during the first of the four, which began June 29.  
Students shine in Honor Band

Minco fifth through seventh grade band students participated in an Honor Band workshop and concert at Hennessey High School on Feb. 21.

“The students were divided up, according to ability, into four bands. Minco had students in all four bands. Four separate clinicians came in to work with the band, so this provided skilled learning for the students, which helps them become better musicians,” said Minco Band Director Sheri Jensen.
